Think portobello mushrooms are big Think again. Scientists on Hainan Island in southern China have discovered the largest fungus ever recorded. Weighing in at around half a ton, and extending over thirty feet in length, fungus experts were shocked to discover the fruiting body comparable to a mushroom in other fungal species feeding on the underside of a large fallen tree. The fungus is from the species Fomitiporia ellipsoidea, and is a so-ca stanley mugs lled perennial polypore, or bracket fungus. Up top is a picture of Professor Yu-Cheng Dai holding 8220 mall fragments of the polypore that have broken off from the larger fruiting body. We were not specifically looking for this fungus, said Dai, who is an expert on bracket fungi. We did not know the fungus can grow so huge. The tree on which the fungus is feeding, which appears to be long-dead and largely decayed, is suspected to have provided the enormous fruiting body with an abundance of nutrients for at least 20 years. When combined with the moist tropical climate of the island, the tree provided the ideal growing conditions for a record-shattering fungus. In a bid to compete more directly with Apple, Samsung has announced that in the coming months it will open 1,400 Samsung Experience shops within Best Buy stores around the US. Last year, a Martian meteorite slammed into the Moroccan desert. Now, an analysis of the meteorite has been published in Science Express, and these black pieces of stone and glass give us an incredible look at the ancient history of the planet. https://gizmodo/chunks-of-mars-have-cras...ca-5876927 The researchers believe the Tissint Martian Meteorite was ejected from Mars some 700,000 years ago, and its composition is uniquely complex. The meteorite has three distinct different types of deposit, linked to different areas of Mars. The researchers think this can be blamed on Martian weathering, stanley mugs and that this hunk of rock was once heavily weathered by water on Mars. In the paper, the researchers conclude: We propose the following scenario in order to explain the composite nature of Tissint. A picritic basalt was emplaced at or near the surface of Mars. After some period, the rock was weathered by fluids, which had leached elements from the Martian regolith. Subsequently, these fluids deposited mineral phases within fissures and cracks. When the meteorite hit Earth, shock-induced melting spread through the weathering fractures, melting them into black glass. Even in this changed form, the unique chemical signatures remained, allowing the scien stanley usa tists to reconstruct the path of Tissint. Every other example of a Martian meteorite has suffered weathering on our planet, too, which makes the Tissint sample one of the most pri stanley usa stine ever seen. The GeoEye 1 and IKONOS spacecraft have captured satellite images of the mysterious Xian Aircraft Corporation Y-20, China first long range jet transport. It shows the clearest image of the giant transport plane yet and reveals that China plane looks a lot like the U.S. Air Force C-17. That not an accident. The satellite images, which were obtained by Wired Danger Room, show China Y-20 as having the same wide swept wing and T-shaped tail as the Boeing made C-17. The blueprints of the C-17 were stolen by spies worki stanley tazas ng for Boeing and given to China. This plane design is a rip off. What China can ;t rip off though is the engines that are necessary to po stanley cup becher wer the plane. Apparently, there are only four companies capable of building the kind of engines that the Y-20 needs. Three are Western companies GE/CFM, Rolls Royce and Pratt 038; Whitney and one is Russian. It assumed that China will have to use Russian engines to lift its 200 ton body however, Russia is reluctant to sell engines to China becaus stanley thermobecher e China might rip them off and those engines may lack the performance in modern transport planes. So though the Y-20 may look like an American giant transport plane, it may actually be all show and no go. [Wired, Image Credit: GeoEye GeoEye 1] airplanesChinaPlanesSatellite

We ;ve all seen police dramas where triumphant suspects are appalled to learn that thei stanley mugs r fingerprint is on, say, the underside of the door handle of the victim car. But what qualifies as a matching ; print And is the system always perfect, or does it make mistakes Take a look at how incriminating your fingertips actually are. Top image: Shutterstock These days, fingerprinting people seems almost quaint. With a DNA database, fingerprints seem like something Dick Tracy would rely on . But there more power in a fingerprint than many people think 鈥?and there may be more power in them than DNA. For example, James and John Parr were both arrested for stealing 10,000 Pounds worth of watches, after they left some bl stanley cup ood on a pane of glass. They were identical twins. The DNA matched each of them and each twin said they were home at the time of the burglary. If either one of them had left a fingerprint on the glass, the police would have been able to arrest the guilty twin. Although twins have similar fingerprints, it easy to distinguish between them. With only DNA, the cops were helpless. Since both people can ;t be arrested for a crime only one of them did, they were let go. Abell 520 is one of the most gigantic mergers of galaxies we ;ve ever seen, and it definitely the most baffling. As galaxies smashed together and parted away, they seemingly left their dark matter behind. That supposed to be completely impossible. It so impossible, in fact, that when astronomers first detected the abandoned dark matter in Abell 520 back in 2007, they figured the data had to be wrong. Considering Abell 520 is 2.4 billion light-years away, a bit of observation error was hardly out of the question. But now, five years later, the Hubble telescope has double-checked and confirmed the original findings. This doesn ;t fit with our establishe stanley cup d theories of dark matte stanley mug r and galaxy formation. So what exactly is going on in Abell 520 Basically, the whole thing is a merger of different galaxy clusters that has been going on for eons. At the center of the emerging cluster are a bunch of galaxies that have been thrown together. All around them is a dark core of, naturally enough, dark matter. But the amount of matter in that dark core is far more than can be traced to the galaxies in the core, which must mean other galaxies left their dark matter behind as they traveled through this chaotic region of space. That really shouldn ;t be possible, since cups stanley dark matter is supposed to be what holds galaxies together. We first deduced its existence about eighty years ago when astronomers Jan Oort and Fritz Zwicky r
