The National Weather Service is forecasting another wetter-than-normal start to the new year in Chattanooga, even with the frigid temperatures expected in the next few days. We ve seen higher rainfall totals in each of the past four years, which reflects the impact of [the climate pattern] El Ni帽o warming the surface waters in the Pacific and bringing more rain in our region, Allan Diegan, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Morristown, said in a telephone interview. Our forecasts for the next three months show a continued pattern of above-average rainfall. But the soggy weather during much of last year was still less than in 2020, when nearly 73 inches of rain fell in Chattanooga. Arkansas-Georgia Live BlogA Georgia State Patrol trooper was injured this afternoon while trying to apprehend an alleged traffic violator in Catoosa County, authorities said.The trooper, TFC G.K. Moss, initially attempted to make a traffic stop on a 2007 Cadillac that did not stop for a school bus that had its stop arms and lights activated, Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said.The driver didn t stop for the trooper until pulling into a convenience store. When Moss checked the driver s name, he discovered that the driver didn t have a license, Wright said.The driver then pulled off in his vehicle, and a pursuit ensued until the driver exited his vehicle. As Moss caught up to him on foot and attempted to apprehend him, there w stanley cup as a physical altercation that led to Moss being hit in the mouth, Wright said. Both Moss and the driver were taken to Erlanger at Hutcheson. A sheriff s vaso stanley deputy assisted in handcuffing the driver.
