A former middle school teacher and basketball coach has taken a plea deal in his lewdness case, his lawyer said Monday.Alphonso Washington will submit an Alford plea in District Court to one count of open and gross lewdness, stanley quencher a gross misdemeanor, for inappropriately touching a female student, defense lawyer Michael Gowdy said. The plea means he will not admit guilt but agrees that prosecu new balance tors can prove their case.Washington was arrested in August after a months-long investigation that began in May.Washington coached girls’ basketball and taught last school year at Lied Middle School, near Tropical Parkway and Decatur Boulevard. He had taught in the Clark County School District since 2003.A gross misdemeanor charge is a probationable offense.
