This post originally appeared in National Journal.President Obama considers himself an excellent judge of his own speeches, something worth remembering in advance of Wednesday s newest economic-policy address at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill.Here is Obama on Obama at a gathering Monday night of Organizing for America staff and volunteers: As we ve learned, I ve given some pretty good speeches before. And then things still get stuck here in Washington, which is why I m going to need your help. I don t know if Obama considers his 2011 Labor Day speech in Detroit pretty good, but it is, at minimum, illustrative of the gap between rhetoric and reality there and in other parts of the nation.Obama was on the v stanley cup erge of launching a stanley cups new conversation on the economy then, just as he is now. A Florida woman has been arrested and charged with battery after Rep. Matt Gaetz, Republican of Florida, told law enforcement she threw a glass of wine at him and doused his shoulder Saturday evening during a wine and food festival in Miramar Beach, Florida, according to Walton County Police.The woman, 41-year-old Selena J. Chambers, was arrested after it was found she intentionally threw a glass of wine at Representative Gaetz after shouting obscenities at him, the Walton County Police said. A police report indicated that alcohol appeared to be a factor in the incident.Chambers, the police report said, faces two counts of battery, including one count of felo stanley quencher ny battery on an elected official. The eight letters released by the presidential descendent, who now works at the Truman College in Chicago, were found in old desk drawers. They had apparently been missed by Bess Truman. Which letter, Dickerson asked, is Clifton Truman Daniel s favorite Probably the first one I read, he said. She writes him on the first morning that he is gone there was a big black bug in my bed last night and I had to kill it myself. Wasn t the first time I wished for you.
