Halton police are investigating after an alleged distraction theft resulted in a Milton resident being defrauded of around $9,000.On Saturday, Jan. 14, at some point between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., a 70-year-old woman was returning to her vehicle after shopping at the Milton Walmart when she was approached by a man who claimed one of her rear tires had low pressure.Police said the victim had placed her purse on the vehicle drivers seat and then went with the man around the vehicle to look at the tire. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW Ultimately the victim got back into her car and started to drive home, but soon realized her purse was missing.Not long after this incident, police said, several of the victims bank cards were used for numerous fraudulent transactions totalling approximately $9,000. While I was in prison, my daughter was born. When I came home she was three and a half. I was gone for four years, said Stewart.聽Stewart would repeat the cycle鈥e went back to the street, then back to prison two more times. After spending 11 years in federal prison on his stanley cup third trip, life gave him a sign he needed to change.聽 My uncle was murd stanley cup ered over a dice game, and then 45 days later my mother died. When my mother died, I knew God was trying to get my attention, said Stewart.聽With the help of his probation officer, Stewar stanley puodelis t enlisted in the Mens Addiction Recovery Center MARC in Bowling Green.聽He not only completed the program but was an inspiration to others along the way.聽 He was one of those guys who got it.
