New York Mayor Bill de Blasio backed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on voting rights, encouraging her Republican opponents to engage h stanley uk er ideas to expand access to the polls.During a speech last week, Clinton criticized several Republican governors by name for seeking to depress turnout among young and minority voters as she called for a sweeping expansion of early voting rules and automatic voter registration at age 18. Obama has won more primaries overall, 14 to her nine, but she won four of the five biggest prizes so far. Texas, with 193 delegates up for grabs Tuesday, is the third-largest contest in the country and has some advantages for Clinton with its large Hispanic population and voters being more familiar with her. Of those delegates, 65 percent will come from the primary, and 35 percent from the caucus. But Bill Clinton warned voters Wednesday that his wife could beat Obama at the polls, only to have victory snatched away later at the caucuses. IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Over pizza and cupcakes, Jose Nunez implored a crowd of University of Iowa students to pull out their smartphones and start sharing with online friends their personal reasons for backing Hillary Clinton for president.Early voting in Iowa begins in late September, and the digital aide for the Clinton campaign said earnestly: These stories are going to start making a difference.Itrsquo a scene Clintonrsquo camp stanley cup aign is replicating in about a dozen of the most contested states as their aggressive voter turnout effort kicks into high gear for the sprint to Election Day, Nov. 8. This weekend s caucuses in Guam pretty much summed up the Democratic race: Out of about 4,500 votes, Barack Obama edged Hillary Clinton by a grand total of seven votes. That s about where the race is heading into the next round of all-important primaries -- Obama ahead just enough to be comfortably assured of stanley mugs finishing the race that way but not far enough to coast completely. In fact, tomorrow s contests in North Carolina and Indiana have the potential to end up as pivotal. A win in both would nearly allow Obama to claim victory and might well be enough to get those uncommitted superdelegates off of the fence. A split ndash; with Clinton winning Indiana and Obama taking No stanley cup rth Carolina, would keep the race going on to West Virginia, Kentucky, Oregon and beyond. But it s the other scenario that he crept into the political discussion that could be the real ga stanley cup me changer should it occur. What if Clinton manages to pull off a sweep Unlikely as that seems, it s not impossible to consider. Indiana, where Clinton has held a small lead in the past weeks, looks to be her best short for a win. North Carolina is much tougher. Among Democrats in the Tar Heel State, blacks make up about 37 percent of the party. Obama has consistently won around 90 percent or more of that vote throughout the primaries which means Clinton would have to carry a huge percentage of the rest of the Democrats and non-affiliated voters allowed to participate in the primary.

It was supposed to be different in Texas Tuesday night.Democrats were supposed to dominate, while Republicans were supposed to be wringing their hands. But when the final numbers came in, that s not what the ballots showed. The tale of the Texas primaries is a powerful reminder of the political axiom, Nothing is good or bad, except by comparison. And the decisions regarding which numbers to compare can result in wildly different headlines. For example, Wednesday morning Axios ran the headline Texas-sized wins for women, Dems.
