That fell to another, far more easily observed physical phenomenon: the phases of the Moon. The time between two fu stanley usa ll moons is on average just over 29.5 days, meaning it was easy to build a lunar calendar in which the months a word that of course is derived from Moon alternate between 29 and 30 days.
