PITTSBURGH -- A Pennsylvania congressman is confirming he had an extramarital affair with a personal friend, a relationship that became public as part of another couple s divorce proceedings.Republican Rep. Tim Murphy issued a statement Wednesday through his lawyer saying the affair took place l stanley thermos ast year and it s nobody s fault but my own. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says the disclosure came after the newspaper obtained a court order to unseal the other couple s divorce action. Last year, I became involved in an affair with a personal friend, the statement read. This is nobody s fault but my own, and I offer no excuses. To the extent that there should be any blame in this matter, it falls solely upon me. A judge ruled Murphy must submit to a deposition in the divorce case stanley cup by the end of September. The 64-year-old congressman represents a suburban Pittsburgh district and is in his eighth term. He is a practicing psychologist and commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves.His congressional spokeswoman referred questions to his lawyer, who didn t immediately return m stanley cup essages. Rep. The Democratic chairman of the House panel examining the government s response to climate change said Tuesday there is evidence that senior Bush administration officials sought repeatedly to mislead the public by injecting doubt into the science of global warming. Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., said he and the top Republican on his oversight committee, Rep. Tom Davis of Virginia, have sought documents from the administration on climate policy, but repeatedly been rebuffed.
